I can't think of a better way to spend a week in hibernation mode than by watching the British documentary series "7 Up," which starts with a group of schoolchildren at age seven and checks in with them every seven years, up to the most recently made film of the group at 49. The earliest films are best, but still it's fascinating to see what's become of the participants and their families. I often find myself thinking of Neil in particular, who's had the hardest go of it and has so much wisdom to share in the films. Here's a link to just a bit of his wonder as a seven-year-old.
